The 2017 MATA Student Symposium was held on January 27th and 28th at Winona State University in Winona, MN . A tremendous amount of gratitude is owed to Dr. Brian Zeller, Ms. Nora Kraemer, Ms. Heather Buerman, Ms. Erin Arnas, and all the Winona AT students for planning and hosting the 2017 MATA Student Symposium. The student-centered athletic training education event began with a social activity at a local Winona bowling alley, offering each of the attending students from Bethel University, College of St. Scholastica, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Cloud State University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and Winona State University an opportunity to relax and have some fun prior to Saturday’s power-packed line-up of keynote and break-out education sessions.
Unofficially, approximately (128) students attended this year’s MATA Student Symposium, enjoying a variety of topics that included Cupping, Interactive Biomechanic Analysis, Manikin Simulation, Joint Mobilizations, Casting, Cadaver Anatomy, Mental Health, Throwing Mechanics, and Concussion Updates. The conference culminated its weekend agenda crowning Minnesota State University-Moorhead (MSUM) the 2017 MATA Quiz Bowl Champion. MSUM will represent Minnesota in the Quiz Bowl at the upcoming District 4 Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association Annual Meeting and Symposium, March 8 – 11, 2017.
